Why did you decide join the Marshalltown Community School District?

I decided to join the Marshalltown Community School District after student teaching at Anson Elementary in 2021. I had a phenomenal experience with the students and staff I worked with. There were always conversations happening around what we could adjust or improve to better fit our student needs, and it stood out to me. The students are always put first, it's empowering.

What do you enjoy most about being a member of the Bobcat community?

My favorite thing about being a member of the Bobcat community is the culture and diversity I see within our town. What a blessing it is to have so many parts of the world in our backyard.

What about your role at MCSD surprises you?

I switched roles this year, from 6th grade math to a position teaching BD Special Education. I have been surprised by the fulfillment and pride I leave work with each day. Teaching can be challenging, but to come back each day to students who inspire you is the foundation of it all.

In your opinion, what makes Marshalltown Community School District special?

The people in the district is what makes MCSD so special. When you need encouragement, inspiration, advice, or compassion, others are there to meet you with what you need.

What does it mean to you to be a Bobcat?

To be a Bobcat to me is to never stop learning or growing. Cling to your knowledge and let it guide you, while inspiring our kiddos to do the same.
