The Marshalltown Community School District (MCSD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Anel Garza Sandoval as the new Director of Student Services, effective July 1, 2025.
Garza Sandoval brings extensive experience and a strong educational background to this role. She currently serves as the principal at Woodbury Elementary School, a position she has held since 2013. Under her leadership, Woodbury achieved state designated commendable status and successfully implemented a dual language curriculum for literacy and math. Before joining Woodbury, Garza Sandoval served as the associate principal at Perry Elementary School.
"I am honored to be part of Marshalltown Community School District and work alongside its dedicated leaders to support students' well-being," Garza Sandoval said. "I look forward to building strong relationships with staff, parents, guardians, and community members so that together, we can help all students move forward and succeed both academically and personally."

"Her proven track record of fostering academic excellence and creating inclusive learning environments will be invaluable as she takes on this new role. As Director of Student Services, Garza Sandoval's top goals include building positive relationships with students, families, staff, and the community; setting realistic and meaningful goals across all aspects of her role; and providing essential support to ensure students' well-being and success.
Outside of her professional life, Garza Sandoval enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, and basketball. She is devoted to her husband, adult children, younger family members for whom she serves as guardian, and her granddaughter.
