The Marshalltown Community School District invites the public to the Annual Student Art Show on Saturday, March 8, at the Marshalltown Performing Arts Center, located on the Marshalltown High School campus.
Held in conjunction with Youth Art Month, the one day exhibit showcases outstanding artwork from students across all grade levels. Each art teacher selects the finest pieces from their classrooms to be displayed. Approximately 400 pieces of student artwork will be displayed this year.
“The district art show is a big deal, for both our students and us, art teachers! It's a culmination of hours of hard work and commitment to the craft,” said Lenihan Art Teacher Nick Beard. “You will see a myriad of different styles, mediums and stories being told through artistic expression from the young minds that are the future of our community, stories that can only be told by capturing ideas through experiencing our world through a youthful lens. Please join us as we celebrate the creativity and imagination of these talented Bobcats.”
A committee of Central Office staff and MCSD School Board members will select a collection of outstanding pieces to receive special recognition. These award-winning works will be marked with a gold sticker during the opening reception and will later be framed and displayed at the MCSD Central Office.
The one-day art show will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
